TutorMate's goal is to close the literacy gap in the earliest school grades, when a small but consistent time investment can impact students in a life-changing way. Our unique web-based volunteer-driven tutoring program allows corporate, nonprofit, and government professionals to tutor Detroit first grade students remotely from their desks for 30 minutes per week during the school day.
According to the U.S. Department of Education's National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), only 34% of the nation's fourth grade students, and 7% of Detroit’s fourth graders, were able to read at or above Proficient level in 2013.
Help put young people on a path to success by supporting a one-on-one literacy program that can make a deeper impact in Detroit!
