This fundraiser if for my son, Oryon, who has sensory processing disorder, Intermittent explosive disorder, and is severely autistic, and his emotional support companion animal, Tux. Tux is currently in training to become a full time service dog. However, we’ve hit some road blocks along the way and could really use some help.
Because of a city ordinance we are fighting against breed specific legislation. What this means is that, because Tux is a Pit mix, he faces discrimination, and possible eviction. Tux came into our lives 7 months ago, before then, Oryon could not even say mom but now since Tux has been in our life, Oryon is semi-verbal. Tux is medical necessity to Oryon as he has improved his ability to reason when upset, has improved social skills and showing affection. Tux has improved Oryons ability to speak. Tux has helped Oryon work through fear of things like water and bubbles (Which drastically improves Oryon’s hygiene skills). Tux has helped in reducing anxiety when outdoors or in large crowds. Tux has reduced the severity of meltdowns by half, which is huge when those meltdowns are often out of the blue. That’s more time spent being happy, which is incredible to see. Tux alleviates any anxiety and sensory needs by laying on Oryon or cuddling with him. This provides gentle comfort that I alone cannot provide. Tux has helped Oryon sleep longer at night by cuddling with him when he's restless, again, something I can’t always be there to do, Tux is there to help. Tux has even helped Oryon get toilet trained after our doctors had doubts whether he would ever be able to do it, a milestone no-one expected!
The bond between these two are amazing and Oryon would be lost without Tux. Without Tux, it’s likely Oryon would regress, and that progress we’ve made in 7 months would be lost.
Your donation, should you choose to help will be used toward any legal issues we face along the way, potential relocation, and the care of Tux. I simply want to do everything in my power to keep Oryon and Tux together. Tux is an invaluable member of our family now, and Oryon benefits daily from his emergency service animal, and companion If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity, and God bless.
