BENEFITING: Green Schools Alliance
EVENT DATE: Jun 25, 2017
As an Ecosystem Manager working with an award-winning Fairfax County Public Middle School, I've worked with hundreds of students. But in the last year, two students in particular stood out from the rest. These two rising 9th grade students have embraced ecosystem principles and practices as a way of life. Through their eco efforts, both students far exceeded fulfilling educational community service hours and, in the process, were instrumental in LMS being certified as a Monarch Waystation and a Wildlife Habitat. In part as a result of their efforts, both students were accepted to the 2016 Student Climate & Conservation Conference, sponsored by the Green Schools Alliance. Although transportation and spending money have been donated, we're raising money to fund at least part of the conference costs. The skills learned at this conference will provide each with an increased and advanced understanding of the ecological challenges facing the environment, and provide them with the skills necessary to implement change on a micro and a macro scale. I know both students will use this opoportunity to make a difference. Every dollar helps, so thank you for donating.
