Tyler and Kayci's Trip to Nigeria
Organized by: Kayci Gruening
As some of you saw, we will be going to Nigeria in October on our "honeymoon" of sorts, to participate in a medical mission trip with Rotary to provide Polio vaccines to children. With both of us being pharmacists, we are very excited to be able to participate with immunizations in a country that so desperately needs help! For those of you who don't know much about Polio, it is a paralyzingly and potentially fatal disease that still threatens children in some parts of the world. The polio virus invades the nervous system and can cause total paralysis in a matter of hours. Polio is incurable, but completely vaccine-preventable. Less than 75 polio cases were confirmed worldwide in 2015, which is a reduction of more than 99.9% since the 1980s. Until polio is eradicated, all countries remain at risk for outbreaks. So, we ask your help. Can you help us fund our trip to Nigeria, to help vaccinate the children of Nigeria from Polio?
