BENEFITING: OVARIAN CANCER COALITION OF GREATER CALIFORNIA
EVENT: 2016 Women Cancer Run
EVENT DATE: Oct 29, 2016
As some of you may know my mother Bettye was diagnosed with Stage III Ovarian Cancer in 2008, she was given only 6 months to live. However my mother, due to her courageous spirit and willingness to fight, fought the disease for over 7 years. Her spirit combined with the assistance of the doctors and nurses at the Todd Cancer Center allowed my mother to continue her fight and allowed me and my siblings to spend 7 more years with our wonderful mother. In March of this year my mother won her battle with cancer and became our guardian angel. We as a family say that she won because she fought with every fiber of her being and even on her worst day stayed positive and refused to give up. To us, she more than earned her her angel wings and was allowed her to take her rightful place with the lord.
I am participating in this, my very first 5K run for ovarian cancer to honor my mother, to bring awareness and raise funds for a cure and to help another family have just a few more years with their mom. If you can, make a donation, spread the word and help me continue the fight!
