Organized by: Aundrea Druart
EVENT DATE Sep 28, 2015
Six weeks after his head-on collision on Aug. 14th, 2015 on Route 236 in South Berwick, Tyler is out of the hospital, but faces potentially more surgeries and a very long road to recovery. He has spent about a month in the hospital. Tyler suffered a broken right arm which he now has permanent plates, screws, chains, ect...in there for the rest of his life!, a fractured left hip, a badly sprained left foot, severe injury to his left knee & 14 stitches in his right knee. He also had a large blood clot removed from his intestine and 4 hematoma's which caused a huge scar down the middle of belly...which is partially still open because of the infection he ended up with and they had to remove some staples prematurely. Needless to say he was severely injured in this accident. He is still recovering and he is trying to stay positive, it almost cost him his life that night and later AGAIN when he developed blood clots in his leg and in the intestines and had to have emergency surgery up at Maine Med. He is still on Coumadin for the blood clot in his left leg but his levels are still all over the place they cant seem to stabilize him so they are going to be sending him to a vascular/cardio doctor next week. He may have a concussion and will be having an MRI, MRV & MRA done on Sunday Oct. 4th. His left pupil is dilated and the right side of his face drooped after discharged quite rapidly but where he is under the care of daily visiting nurses and has PT & OT 2x per week. They are keeping a pretty good eye on him and so is Neurology which they believe he may have a blood clot on his brain but because he has been on Coumadin since the accident that would be the course of treatment so as long as it is not blocking anything else or putting any pressure on anything in his brain that would put him in imminent danger they will leave it alone. The ligament damage to his knee also will require surgery he went on Monday Sept. 28th for the MRI, we are going tomorrow to meet with the Surgeon. At the time of the crash Ty was working at Super Cuts down on Lafyette Rd. and was working hard on going back to train to become a level 2 and was among the top 3 hairstylist!! Very proud of him!! A therapist told Ty that the injury to his arm may prevent him from cutting hair. But his OT now said she could tell he has the drive to prove people wrong, so we're hopeful...As of right now he has at least a six-month recovery time, but it could extend... Ty was also planning to go back to teaching part time as a cardio dance/Zumba instructor. Now, with the extent of his injury to his left hip the cardio/Zumba, will not be able to happen. Tyler as most of you know is staying with his grandparents in York, as our home could not accommodate his injuries. They agreed to take him into their home...and they moved out of their own bedroom and gave it to Tyler. For that I will be forever thankful to them!! Ty is self pay for a lot of the NH stuff so we are setting up a fund for him to alleviate some of this stress he is not sleeping well as it is...and I dont need him causing himself an ulcer over where the $ is coming from for his medications because our insurance does not cover it... Rite Aid has been great having us use the self pay program but it still cost money...blahhh or how the next medical bill will be pd on so he can have the knee surgery in order for him to be fixed correctly so he may go back to work. We Thank you for anything you can donate even if it is just a dollar! That's toll money!... (Idk what to put for goal...I don't by any means expect to raise this much... but that's a start to help with his arm care, hip and knee bills as our insurance is not accepted there and this is where Tyler is self pay.)
***Also wanted to give "Furniture Forever" in Newington NH a shout out for helping us with Tyler's Bed he needed one w/the back part that goes up & legs and Bill made it happen!*** he is from South Berwick too! he said anything he could do to help! I wanted to cry!! I sometimes cannot believe they are still good people out there in this world! <3 <3
