I’m an American living and working abroad. Our school has many staff from the Philippines. In the days following the typhoon, we learned that four of our co-workers lost their homes, and their families were now homeless. Worse yet, a 5th member of our staff, Nameia, lost all contact with her family.
At first we were hopeful communication would be reestablished, especially after a few days when she learned her brother and sister had survived. But as time went on we began to fear the worst. Nameia did not have a computer so she gave me the names of her missing family and asked me to check the survivor lists that were being posted to the internet. I checked several times a day and each time, had to face her with no news. Finally after 10 days, we learned that her oldest son, daughter in law, and two grandchildren had not survived.
We are seeking donations to help these five women through this incredibly difficult time. These unbelievably hard working people earn the equivalent of $272.25 a month, nowhere near enough to help their families back home purchase food, medicine or building supplies.
Please help us make a difference in their lives. Those who want to donate, please feel free to contact me directly
