BENEFITING: National AMBUCS
We're wanting to raise money for this amazing organization that gives fun mobility back to the kids that need it. The National AMBUCS Inc. makes it possible for kids with varying disabilities to be able to experience the joy of owning and being able to ride their very own bicycle. We hope that you take the time to look into this wonderful organization and donate what you can. Our son Tyson is 9 years old. He suffered a stroke while still in utero that caused severe tightness to his left side. He has limited mobility in his arm and leg, can barely move his fingers on his left hand and has no movement at all from his toes. He works twice as hard to balance himself with every step but it seldom gets him down. There are things that he has trouble with but it never stops him from trying. One thing in particular, riding a bike. Due to the increased tone and limited balance it is impossible for him to ride a regular bike. He cannot keep his feet on the pedals without some sort of modifications and does not have the balance to hold it upright. He needs the stability of a tricycle but due to his size the standard training wheels were just not working. It never stopped him from trying though. He started participating in our local special olympics for the kids in our area and entered the bike races, borrowing a therapeutic tricycle from the parish therapist. We knew that was our answer. If we could get a tryke like this it would give him that freedom and mobility that he wants. It would help him with his challenges but also be fun and exciting. It would keep his tone to a minimum with everyday use and provide the low impact exercise needed, something that he could have and use well into adulthood. He looks forward to his bike races every year! He looks forward to therapy twice a week because he knows he can practice with the tryke. I've seen such an improvement with his attitude and willingness to do the work asked of him in therapy. I know that getting him a therapeutic tricycle of his own will have the most positive impact on not only him but our whole family. Every child deserves a bike. AMBUCS is making that happen. I'm so glad I found this organization and will hopefully be able to help my son as well as others. We hope you can help by sharing and giving what's in your heart to this charity that is changing kids lives by helping them just be kids.
