EVENT: Saving Pets Challenge 2015
In 2008, I was introduced to United Coalition for Animals (UCAN) and have been involved ever since. UCAN is a key component of ending companion animal euthanasia.
My heart breaks every time I see commericals about helping homeless animals or stories about animals being neglected. UCAN is the solution.
UCAN is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that operates a low-cost spay/neuter clinic that provides services to Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky and Southeastern Indiana. The clinic offers significantly reduced cost sterilization services (and in some cases free) and several free transports from several surrounding counties. In doing so, UCAN eliminates the two main reasons why people do not sterilize their pets: cost and lack of access.
Since opening in April 2007, the clinic has completed over 70,000 surgeries. That's 70,000 cats and dogs that are not producing multiple litters with multiple offspring in their lifetime. And those offspring are not producing multiple litters either. You do the math.
UCAN can only keep doing what they do through obtaining grants and through donors LIKE YOU. YOU can make a difference. You can help end the cycle of unecessary euthanasia.
