Thank you for visiting my page. For those of you that know me, you know how tragically Huntington's Disease has affected our family. We lost my husband, Skip at the age of 40 to HD. He began showing symptoms in his early 30's. Stephany, our 22 year old daugher is at risk, having a 50 percent chance of inheriting this deadly gene. Recently, I co-founded a new non-profit called UCI HD-CARE with my friend, Frances Saldaña. Frances lost her husband to HD and all 3 or her children inhereted the deadly gene. Once again this year, I will be coordinating a team to raise research money for HD, specifically for the research being done at UCI.
My heart has been truly touched by these individuals who are willing to put in the training and effort to come along side families affected by HD, helping to raise funds and awareness. Each time our runners ask for someone to sponsor them, they are educating that person about what Huntintington's Disease is.
Even though I am not personally running in this marathon, since I will be busy coordinating on event day, I still want to fundraise for this great cause. A donation of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
Please help us in our efforts to end HD and provide help for those who suffer from it. To learn more about UCI HD-CARE, please click here:http://www.hdcare.org
