I have devoted the last 20 years of my life to advocate for support of Huntington's disease (HD) research and patient care. The father of my children lost their father to Huntington's disease, and as fate would have it, all three of my children inherited HD from him. As fast and furious as patient advocates and HD scientists have worked, it simply was not fast enough. I lost my youngest daughter, Marie, in November, 2009, and my second daughter, Margie, in February, 2014. I have one remaining child, Michael, who fights for his life every day. He is in the late stages of HD, but there is much hope for future generations to escape from the grips of HD. Because HD research is progressing at a speed like never before in the history of science, my two beautiful grandchildren and thousands of other young people "at risk" to inherit HD have a real chance to live a full life....not a life of suffering but a life they were brought into the world to enjoy. Please join me in this fight, in memory of Hector, the father of my children, my darling Marie, and my beautiful Margie, and all who have lost the fight to HD. Please support me in our mission to make this the last generation of Huntington's disease. Thank you.
