UCI HD-CARE is a University of California Irvine support group whose two primary goals are to advance Huntington’s Disease research at UCI and aid and assist the HD Clinic at UCI.
Huntington’s Disease (HD) is a devastating, inherited neurodegenerative disorder that usually strikes young adults in their prime. Currently there is no treatment for HD but there is hope from research and clinical trials.
Led by Dr. Leslie Thompson, UCI is one of the nation’s top HD research centers, beginning with their involvement in identifying the gene that causes HD, basic science efforts to understand causes of the disease, and development of novel therapies.
Dr. Neal Hermanowicz and the HD Clinic provide not only care and knowledge to HD patients and their families, but also offer clinical trials of treatments that may alter the course of the disease.
Your donations raised through UCI HD-CARE directly support Dr. Leslie Thompson’s HD research and Dr. Neal Hermanowicz’s HD Clinic.
Thank you for supporting the UCI HD-CARE Running Club and our efforts to treat and stop the progression of Huntington’s Disease. Each day holds the promise of a potential treatment, and the overwhelming generosity of our donors brings us one step closer to a breakthrough.
