22 veterans commit suicide every day. This is unacceptable. We as a society cannot allow this to happen. Starting this February, we will work to change that through the Run Ranger Run program sponsored by Gallant Few Inc. We will run 565 miles while raising funds and awareness about the struggles our veterans face during their transition back into civilian life. Global War on Terror veterans are 40% more likely to be unemployed than a person who never served. Our goal is to raise $10,000. All proceeds will go towards Gallant Few, a non-profit organization designed with the sole purpose of supporting our veterans with the transition back to civilian life. Saying "thank you" is one thing, but showing your gratitude is something completely different. Our veterans have done so much for us all, it's time to give something back to them!
We, Team UCOIN 003 & Co, are a collection of like minded high school students who are committed to serving the United States of America in our futures. 9 of our 10 team members are US Naval Sea Cadets, 7 of which met at a Sea Cadet training called Urban Counter-Insurgency (UCOIN) during July of 2014 at Camp Atterbury, IN. The training is highly selective and exceptionally challenging, both physically and mentally. At UCOIN, we learned the value of teamwork and putting others before oneself no matter how tired or uncomfortable one may be. We have put this mentality into our Run Ranger Run fundraiser to benefit Gallant Few, "A Revolutionary Veteran Support Network". We run to raise awareness and support for the difficulties veterans face returning to the civilian world. We would like nothing more than to be able to contribute to the veteran community, a community we one day hope to be a part of.
