BENEFITING: United Conservationists
At United Conservationists we are kick-starting a new kind of Revolution for a new generation. We believe that by educating and empowering youth through media to protect the ecosystems we depend upon, we have the power to start a planetary Revolution.
Filmmaker and eco-warrior, Rob Stewart, is the founder and has a proven track record using media to spark meaningful social change. His award-winning documentary film, Sharkwater, was viewed by 124 million people, and spawned a global movement to end shark finning that led to a change in government policies around the globe.
Harnessing the momentum, United Conservationists began its first campaign in 2011, the Fin Free campaign, with great success. In just six months, our campaign resulted in numerous bans across North America and with Fin Free chapters sprouting up in cities around the world, from Singapoire, Taipei, New York City, Sydney and more.
Sharks are how we started, but now we have an even bigger challenge. With not just animals and ecosystems in danger, but humanity at stake, we are taking our movement to the next level. We aim to kick-start an environmental Revolution by igniting youth, those with the most at stake, to take the lead.
We plan to spark this new movement with Stewart’s next feature film project Revolution and the Revolution campaign. Revolution the film will be the catalyst, while the Revolution campaign will be the platform, providing outlets for viewers to take meaningful action outside the movie theatre. The campaign will provide:
- Educational Materials: Empowering youth with the information necessary to save humanity
- Online Networking Platform: Uniting the environmental movement with eco-activism 2.0 technology
- Mobile Application: Putting the power to change the world into people’s hands
- Junior Eco-Herores Program: Youth are encouraged to become eco-leaders of a new generation, by creating their own campaigns and projects.
