UC Riverside Student Run Health Clinic (SRHC) is a non-profit organization that has provided free, long-term medical and dental care to the medically underserved Riverside populations for over 8 years. SRHC is a member of the National Association of Free Clinics (NAFC) and operates as an additional project under “Project FOOD”, a non-profit organization committed to providing free meals to the low-income and homeless population of the city of Riverside. SRHC is held every other Wednesday after free meals are offered from 5 pm until the last patient is seen. Our clinic operates out of the First Congregational Church located at 3504 Mission Inn Ave, Riverside CA 92501. For more information on our program, please visit: www.riversidesrhc.com
In general, Riverside is a multicultural community with little health care available to low income or uninsured patients other than the emergency room of the local hospital. Our clinic serves a diverse patient population of over 400 men and women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds. Most of these patients are homeless, living on the streets in the downtown area or under overpasses or bridges. Our clinic is their only free reliable source of follow-up medical care, dental care and prescription medications that otherwise they cannot afford.
The SRHC is entirely run by volunteer staff. The staff includes UCR/UCLA medical students, Western University pharmacy and dental students, Loma Linda pharmacy students and UC Riverside undergraduate pre-health students. These students run the clinic under supervision from UC Riverside School of Medicine clinical faculty, local Riverside County physicians, a number of board certified pharmacists and dentists, County nurses, and Riverside County and Kaiser Permanente Riverside Family Medicine residents who dedicate their time twice a month to serve this population.
In addition to grants, we depend on the kindness and generosity of individuals, businesses, and corporations in order to raise the funds necessary to provide prescription medications, medical supplies, laboratory tests and for keeping SRHC running for another year. Your donations are tax-deductible. If you would like to attend our 9th annual fundraiser banquet that will be held on March 15th 2013 at 6:00 PM at the Carriage House located at 4600 Crestmore Rd., Riverside, CA 92509, please RSVP at http://srhcbanquet.splashthat.com
Thank you for your consideration to give back to the community of the Inland Empire. We appreciate your support in our efforts to provide free and accessible healthcare to the underserved population of our community.
