BENEFITING: UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE
EVENT DATE: Jan 09, 2016
The University of Delaware Men’s Crew Team ("UDMC") is excited to support the Delaware community at The Delaware Charity Challenge Winter Games, which will take place Saturday, January 9, 2016.
UDMC relies on vans to travel to practices and races, and currently seeks to purchase a 10-passenger van to transport its expanding team. UDMC will use the fundraising it generates from this event to contribute towards its goal to purchase a 10-passenger van. UDMC regularly travels from Newark, Delaware to Wilmington, Delaware to practice on the Christina River, and UDMC travels along the Mid-Atlantic and the NorthEast Regions to compete.
UDMC is a nationally ranked Club Rowing program that represents the University of Delaware in the Eastern Association of Rowing Colleges and the American Collegiate Rowing Association. UDMC competes at prestigious regattas, such as Head of the Charles Regatta, Dad Vail Regatta, and ACRA Championship, with potential to compete in the Henley Royal Regatta on the River Thames in England against elite varsity rowing programs.
In Spring 2015, UDMC's 1st and 2nd Varsity Lightweight Eights defeated Harvard University for the first time. Subsequently, UDMC's 1st Varsity Lightweight Eight won its event at the Dad Vail Regatta. As a result of recent success, UDMC is attracting top talent and rapidly growing. UDMC needs a 10-passenger van to accomodate its growing team.
