EVENT DATE: May 19, 2012
In July 2011, Greg and I were amazingly blessed to go on a mission trip to Uganda, Africa. This trip changed our lives and the way we view the world around us. We are getting married on May 19th, and for our wedding favors, we would like to make a significant donation to the organization that we went to Uganda with, in honor of our guests. The SLAM (Students Living A Mission) organization continues to love, heal, and encourage the people of Bombo Town, Uganda, and we want to continue to be a part of God's great work in their lives.
To earn our funds for this project, we will be volunteering for local missions. As important as the people of Bombo Town are to us, we also want to make an impact on our community. One of the most incredible experiences we had in Uganda was our visit to the Nakasongola Prison. We begin our Yoke Fellows prison ministry training on February 18th and will be involved with the Raleigh Correctional Center for women.
"Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
"The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’"
