BENEFITING: MEDIA ACTION
HOURS PLEDGED: 80
Media action co-founders and sisters each have a different bond with East Africa. Media Action team members have worked with boys at a center for street children in Tanzania to collaboratively create a film (http://vimeo.com/15998709), and at a vocational school for orphans in Uganda.
We are now $10,000 away from leading three intergenerational peace film workshops in the West Nile region of Uganda, which faces recovery from decades of of violent political conflict. Your support would help youth to create innovative films on conflict resolution. The workshops would culminate in a regional film festival. Kodiak's public radio station did a great story on the upcoming project: http://www.kmxt.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=3939&Itemid=2
We have amazing local partners. Our supporters and partners include: Uganda Rural Literacy and Community Development Association, Makerere University, Arua Local Government, Maendeleo Foundation, Here is Life FM Radio, and other partners.
The United States Institute for Peace has endorsed us. We have already received partial funding for this project from USIP, a highly competitive grant of which less than 5% of applicants succeed.
