Ultimate Tournament for Malaysian Students
Organized by: Mark Abadi
EVENT DATE Oct 02, 2014
In a country where soccer, badminton and netball dominate the sports landscape, students at three schools in central Malaysia are hooked on a different game: ultimate frisbee. Now, their first ever ultimate frisbee tournament is just a month away.
Three Fulbright English Teaching Assistants are organizing the one-day tournament for their students, many of whom before this year had never touched a frisbee disc. Over the past few months, the students' skills have improved and their passion for the game has grown. Meanwhile, they are learning to honor the "Spirit of the Game," valuing sportsmanship and fairness above all else. Participating in this tournament will allow them to experience the thrill of competitive ultimate for the first time while giving them an avenue to enter Malaysia’s emerging ultimate scene.
Funds raised through this site will go toward transportation to the tournament venue in central Pahang, jerseys, food and water. Each donation of $15 will allow another student to compete in the tournament.
