BENEFITING: The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
EVENT DATE: Aug 07, 2011
A few years ago my Stepfather Bill was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and soon after my best friends father Jose was diagnosed with Lymphoma. These are two very special men whom I love very much. I wanted to show these men how much they mean to me so I decided to join forces with The Leukemia Lymphoma Society's Team in Training Marathon teams. I had never been an athlete, and until 2008 I had never run even 1 mile. I couldn't even run a half of a mile.
In October of 2008 with the help of friends and family we raised funds, awareness and I completed my first ever marathon! Today Bill & Jose are doing well, but their fight is not over, their treatments continue and so does my fight to help them and all others with blood cancers. I have already raised money for this cause by running a marathon so I thought I better take it to the next level. Running is still very difficult for me so to show how commitment I am to this cause, I am setting out to run an Ultra Marathon! 31 miles and change, (and yes I'll take that to if that's all you can spare) is my Ultra Goal, my 50k race is set for this August.
Every 4 minutes one person is diagnosed with a blood cancer and every ten minutes, someone dies from that blood cancer.
Please support my 6 month training to become an Ultra Marathoner! For the next 6 months I'll be training 5-6 days a week, all the while raising funds and awareness for blood cancers on behalf of Bill, Jose and The Leukemia Lymphoma Society. http://www.lls.org
Help me reach my Ultra goal of finding a cure for cancer, and finding my way through the Northern California forests to my Ultra finish. Any donation in any amount is greatly appreciated. Any words of encouragement are also, always needed.
On behalf of LLS, my family and all those battling cancer, thank you for your support.
My fundraising site & blog will be updated periodically so you can see your donations in action.
