Under His Wings Foundation- Storm readiness services
Organized by: Emily Weaver
Every year the US is home to some 1000 tornadoes, and is responsible for 1500 injuries, and 60+ fatalities a year. Thunderstorms and lightning strikes account for 55-60 fatalities and 4500 injuries a year. Many of these injuries and fatalities could have been avoided had the victims had adequate storm shelters. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has taken steps to help communities and home owners cut the costs of building storm shelters, but their requirements do not fit all Americans, and in some cases only covers a portion of the costs. Having a safe place should be a basic human right for every American.
Studies show that the safest place for a person during a severe storm is underground. If the resident does not have an underground shelter the next best thing is in an interior room without windows. Many American's today have none of these options and are risk for serious or fatal injuries due to severe weather.
Under His Wings is a start up, non-profit organization that helps fill in the gaps, and provide adequate and necessary storm shelters for Americas most vulnerable. Help us make a difference, and keep Americans safe.
