Today, Syria is the world's biggest producer of both internally displaced people and refugees. There are now over 2 million CHILD refugees who have fled the country. That's more than the combined under 18 populations of Los Angeles and Boston.
Over 4 miilion people, half of them children, are on the run and directly affected by the brutal five-year conflict in Syria, having been put at risk by unrelenting violence, crumbling infrastructure, ruined schools and hospitals, and shortages of essential supplies. Syria’s youngest have known nothing but war for their entire lives.
UNICEF has been on the ground since the conflict began, helping to mobilize the LARGEST HUMANITARIAN operation in history. UNICEF is working closely with partners to provide education, physical protection, psychological support and clothing to Syrian refugee children in Iraq, Jordan, Turkey, Lebanon, Egypt. And recently, Germany, France, Italy and the United States have opened their borders in light of this global humanitarian crisis. Your donation goes directly towards immunizing children against disease; providing critial acess to safe drinking water; building classrooms in refugee camps, and providing basic needs to the 3,000 migrants fleeing Syria every day.
For these children, WHAT'S AT STAKE ISN'T POITICS. It's their future. Having already lost their homes, schools and communities, their chances of building a future may also soon be lost.
UNICEF is at the forefront of providing aid to refugee children, but we need your help. Donate to help UNICEF meet their urgent needs.
