Intense sectarian violence has swept through northern and central Iraq.
An estimated 1.2 million people—half of them children—have fled their homes. Schools have been targeted, and hospitals supplies are dwindling.
UNICEF is working to provide essential services for children and families affected by the violence. In the unlikely event that donations surpass need, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF would cease its appeal for Iraq and redirect any excess donations to help other children caught in crisis, wherever most needed.
