Dear Family and Friends,
On November 8, 2013, the Philippines was victim to the worst recorded typhoon recorded in modern history, Typhoon Haiyan. The typhoon leveled several towns, left thousands dead and nearly half a million people without homes. The images in the news show the despair of these Filipinos in search of their loved ones, fighting for food and water, and scrummaging for shelter.
The Philippines is still in the initial phase of the unenviable task of recovering and is in dire need of support. Our group of four Filipina friends have felt the heartache of watching our fellow countrymen go through the destruction of this storm and felt compelled to act in order raise funds for this cause. The four of us are not associated with any group or organization, just a group of girls that walk and run together.
During one of our recent runs we decided to organize a Run/Walk for the benefit of the victims of Typhoon Haiyan. The Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Creve Couer Park in Maryland Heights, MO. All the proceeds will be donated to various charities involved in the relief effort, such as the American Red Cross and UNICEF.
Thank you for your support and have a blessed holiday!

Children are suffering in the Philippines. Typhoon Haiyan—the year's most powerful tropical storm—is the latest natural disaster to strike a country already reeling from monsoon flooding and a massive earthquake. Children need shelter, clean water, nutrition and vaccines.
