BENEFITING: UNICEF USA
Education is the key for children to lift themselves out of poverty, but 30 million kids in Africa are not in primary school. Millions more face huge barriers to gaining an education; often it’s the lack of a simple desk.
Giving children desks, where they can write and concentrate, is a first step to keeping eager students in school. Launched in 2010 by MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell, the Kids in Need of Desks (K.I.N.D.) initiative aids learning by delivering desks to schools in Malawi—nearly 150,000 so far. But more than half of Malawi’s students still study on the ground.
Be K.I.N.D this Black History Month. Help African students rise up and learn.
