United Friends of the Children (UFC) is a nonprofit organization that serves current and former foster youth in LA County in its College Readiness, College Sponsorship and Pathways Housing programs. The holiday season can be a difficult time for many foster youth, so we are asking for your help so UFC can ensure that our 1,400 program participants know they are part of a family this festive season! Your contribution today will help make difference in the lives of our 1,400 youth and their families…and here’s how:
- $5 donation provides our College Sponsorship students with coffee gift cards and other surprises during their finals season
- $20 donation gives our middle and high school students in College Readiness new backpacks and school supplies for the New Year
- $50 donation spreads holiday cheer to one of our current Pathways residents or alumni to purchase a holiday gift for them or their children
- $100 donation funds one year of tutoring to a high school student in College Readiness
These are just a few examples of the things your money can do here at UFC! The more you give, the more LA foster youth will receive!
UFC provides supportive housing, career and educational services to former foster youth who have "aged out" of the system in our Pathways Housing program. We also offer educational and financial support to current foster youth in middle school and high school in our College Readiness program and financial and emotional support to former foster attending college through the College Sponsorship program. Through these core services UFC has developed an innovative 11-year continuum of care—starting in the 7th grade and sticking with our youth all the way through completion of their bachelor's degree and/or other graduation from our housing program. UFC staff create long-term and caring relationships with our youth that are instrumental to their personal and academic successes. Join the UFC Family – Make a Difference!
