In 2001, eight University of Wyoming student athletes tragically lost their lives when their vehicle was struck by a drunk driver. To honor the memory of these students, an alcohol awareness endowment has been established through the UW Foundation, a 501c3.
Funds from the Wyoming Remember the 8 endowment will go toward supporting programs that aim to prevent alcohol abuse among Wyoming high school and college students. Mini-grants will be awarded from the endowment on a competitive basis. Those eligible to apply include individual students and student organizations from the University of Wyoming, community colleges, and Wyoming high schools that are taking leadership roles to prevent the misuse of alcohol among high school and college students. Eligible projects include alcohol education programs, events, and student research projects.
