BENEFITING: PENOBSCOT RIVER RESTORATION TR
The Penobscot River Restoration Trust is restoring spawning habitat for Atlantic Salmon and 10 other species of sea-run fish. They have already torn out two dams and are getting under way on creating a fish bypass around Howland Dam, as part of an historic effort to open 1,000 miles of new spawning habitat. But they still need more money to do it. I started my challenge on June 1, 2014 to take my canoe 180 miles from Veazie Dam UPSTREAM to the (almost) furthest north reaches of the future spawning habitat. Well I did it 11 days, 6 hours, 10 minutes, two days early! Please be part of this amazing project. Spare the price of a good meal at the restaurant for my cause and maybe we'll all be eating fresh sea-run Atlantic Salmon again someday.
