I decided to participate in the Men's Health Urbanathlon because I wanted to challenge myself and try something new. I thought I would do some good in the process and raise money for Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Spaulding is a place that is very dear to my family's and to my own heart. The hospital is named after my grandfather, Josiah A. Spaulding, who had the foresight in 1971 to realize the increasing need for a hospital solely devoted to rehab. I never got to meet him, but the A stood for Augustus, so he is very much a part of me.
When I joined Spaulding's Young Professionals Group in 2009, I was so touched by the patient stories I heard while volunteering at the hospital. I figure if Spaulding patients can work so hard toward their goals, I certainly can Find the Strength to train for for this urbanathlon. Now that I am no longer in Boston, this is my way of lending a hand from afar.
Thank you for considering making a donation.
