Hey Everybody! We’re starting now, before the holidays, to raise funds for our Detroit 2012 gardens! You + your friends can help this City! As is the Urban Farming model, our community based gardens in Detroit are on vacant city lots - some up to 2 acres - and we have a lot to do in the Spring. So we raise the funds now in preparation for our busy season. The hallmarks of an Urban Farming garden are many: The food from these gardens is free and accessible to the neighbors and community members in need. The gardens don't have fences. People aren't required to work on the garden in order to enjoy the food. If people are hungry or have food insecurity they just pick the fresh produce for themselves and their family. Planting these gardens requires plants, soil, materials along with organizational attention, time and quality control.
