BENEFITING: Urban Initiatives
ORGANIZER: Urban Initiatives
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2016
Dear Cliff's greatest supporters!
I have some exciting news!
This year - as I did last year - I will be running in the 2016 Bank of America Chicago Marathon in support of Urban Initiatives, a Chicago-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower Chicago’s underserved children to adopt healthy lifestyles, improve their academic performance, and build strong character through sports-based youth development programs.
I am reaching out to ask if you could join me and help me raise as much as I can for Urban initiatives. Any amount you are willing and able to contribute will make a difference! My goal is to raise $1000.00+
Why am I doing it?
I am participating in this race for two reasons: first, it is for a good cause - Urban Initiatives plays a very important role in serving Chicago’s underserved children to adopt healthy lifestyles, improve their academic performance, and build strong character through sports-based youth development programs, and I could not be any more proud of them.
Second, I am a go-getter. In addition to giving to the community, I enjoy challenges; once in a while I like to push myself. This will be my second time to participate in a marathon (last year was my first!!) and I could not be any more excited.
A little bit about myself: I was born and raised in a very humble family in Zimbabwe, and I moved to the United States in 2007 when I received a full academic scholarship to attend Berea College, a liberal arts college in Kentucky. I now live in Chicago where I enjoy to spend my time giving back to the community. I am actively involved with Urban Initiatives, Big Brother Big Sister program, and the Junior Achievement program, all amazing programs that that are making a huge difference in the community.
What could you do for the cause?
Could you please help by contributing any amount you can? Whatever the amount, it will go a long way in making a difference.
Thank you for taking time your to read this. And thank you if you were able to make a contribution.
