BENEFITING: Urban Initiatives
ORGANIZER: Urban Initiatives
EVENT DATE: Oct 08, 2016
This October I will be running the Chicago Marathon in support of Urban Initiatives, a Chicago-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower underserved children to adopt healthy lifestyles, improve their academic performance, and build strong character through sports-based youth development programs.
I joined Urban Initiatives' Junior Board in June 2015 because I was passionate about their mission. I've had the ability to experience first-hand the benefit of playing sports. I started playing soccer when I was 5 years-old. Soccer taught me how to be a team player, as well as a leader. It taught me respect, responsibility, and gave me an extra push to do well in school, not to mention the opportunity to travel. Soccer introduced me to amazing people, and some of my best friends, while improving my self confidence, mental toughness, and physical strength; they are all reasons for which I feel able to take on the Chicago Marathon.
I am grateful to be a part of, and support an organization that is working every day to do the same for 15,000 kids in Chicago.
I am reaching out to ask if you can join me in supporting Urban Initiatives and help me reach my goal of raising $1,000. Any amount you are willing to give will bring me one step closer to my goal!
Thanks for taking the time to read this!
