People keep talking about guns and crazy people, but the truth is that thousands of mentally ill people are out on the streets with no help and little recourse. In the 1980's Reagan instituted a nationwide dismissal of people from mental hospitals and defunded all the national pograms set up to help them. Now we are seeing the consequences. I am deeply committed to helping these people, since the city and state, and government wont, WE have to. Please help me raise money for my junior board of Urban Pathways, and provide shelter, support, and basic neccessities for people coping with mental problems who have no family or other support. Please give, even a few dollars! Thank you!
Each and every night in New York City, 60,000 people are without a home. Urban Pathways plays a critical role in reaching this population as a first point of contact for homeless New Yorkers. We engage individuals “where they are at” through our strong network of services to help individuals move into permanent housing while providing treatment and minimizing the likelihood of ever returning to the streets. Through these efforts, Urban Pathways is #thewayhome for more than 2,000 homeless people each year.
In an effort to share a little holiday cheer, our Junior Board rallies together and raises funds to purchase much needed items for the clients of Urban Pathways: hats, gloves, scarves and socks. Last year they created over 900 gift bags, and this year their goal is to provide 1,320 clients with a gift. Please donate today!
