Urgent Assistance for the Crisis in Idomeni
Organized by: Lisa McFadin
Due to the severity of the conditions in Greece, a small team is mobilizing to assist the many migrants who are currently trapped at the border.
Last November, I was fortunate enough to be part of a dynamic team that worked in Lesvos. Part of this team is coming together again to work in Idomeni, where the crisis is unfolding. Emergency shelter, clothing, medicines and solar lights are urgently needed, as is coordination and strategic planning. Many families are sleeping outside in the cold and the conditions have become unbearable.
After seeing first hand the suffering and listening to the many stories of the hell they are fleeing from, I have to take action. There is a nearby camp we will be working, where there are 1200 people stranded without food, medical and only the army assisting. They are begging for our help.
My friend Alison Thompson from Third Wave Volunteers has been heavily involved for almost a year asked for me to accompany her to arrive there with her on March 28th. I am asking for donations of cash to bring for solar lights, medicines and food for the migrants. This trip came up very fast, so time is of the essence to raise this money. No donation is too small.
In addition to this trip, I am designing a mobile app which will assist migrants to locate each other, shelter, medical and food throughout Europe. This trip will be a fact finding mission as well , n order to finish the coding. If you are interested in helping get this off the ground, please contact me.
