BENEFITING: DREAM ON INTERNATIONAL
Rachel (6), David (7), Patience (14), and Ama (16) are at risk and in urgent need of assistance to be cared for and enrolled in school. Dream On International is sponsoring this Crowdrise campaign to raise $11,500 to secure safe accommodations for the children and enroll them in private boarding schools in their home country of Ghana.
The children have loving mothers who are disabled and were subjected to such severe discrimination and abuse in Ghana that it became necessary for them to flee their home country and request legal protection in the United States. Ghana is widely known as “the worst place in the world to be disabled” (BBC).
These mothers have already had to make the heart-wrenching decision to leave their country, culture, and families to protect themselves from further harm. It is very difficult for them to live an ocean away from their children and they worry about their children daily. Until the mothers obtain legal status and can be reunited with Rachel, David, Patience, and Ama, their greatest wish is to know that their children are safe, well cared for, and provided with the tools they need to become educated, skilled, and independent adults.
The children have received limited and substandard education, and without the protection of their mothers, are at risk in their communities. In addition, one of the children fell out of a mango tree and is in need of urgent medical assistance. Your contribution will cover the expenses of medical care, admission fees for school, uniforms, food, school supplies, books, and tuition and boarding for two full years. Please help these deserving children and their mothers realize their dreams. The children will be cared for by Dream On International, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that has made significant advances in addressing human rights abuses since 2007. Of note: It is the policy of Dream On International to protect the privacy and safety of children who are part of its Rescue Program.
