Madaya, Syria is a Damascus suburb that has been under government siege for over six months. In December alone, there have been 31 reported deaths due to starvation and malnutrition. Landmines surround the city making escape impossible. Pictures of children eating leaves and babies being fed saltwater have emerged in the past few weeks, finally bringing international awareness to the suffering of these people. The images are graphic. The situation is dire.
Global outrage at such horror has led to food aid being permitted inside for some time. We have a small window to help the people of Madaya and we must act swiftly, efficiently, and on a massive scale. Please consider donating towards this initiative so that we may successfully open a soup kitchen and deliver food baskets to the population in need.
