BENEFITING: GO ABROAD FOUNDATION
The goal of this fundraiser is to support disaster relief efforts in Tacloban City, Philippines. Tacloban is considered ground zero for the natural disaster which struck in November 2013, known locally as Typhoon Yolanda (internationally as Haiyan). The path of destruction was immense, killing over 6,200 people and demolishing entire communities. The rebuilding effort is underway, but we are still in the early stages. We need your support today, please donate.
As part of this fundraiser, I (Mike Quinlan) am going to the Phillipines and joining Volunteer for the Visayans for 2 weeks to aid efforts on the ground in Tacloban. I'm also coordinating with teachers, parents, and students in the USA on relief & educational efforts, specifically with a wonderful 4th grade class in Minnesota, and amazing pre-K & Kindergarten classes in Ohio. The aim is to involve the children in the project and teach them the value of helping others. Each class is learning age appropriate facts about the Philippines and participating in projects to send educational and relief supplies overseas.
The GoAbroad Foundation http://www.goabroad.org/ is a United States based 501(c)(3) tax exempt foundation that is partnered with Volunteer for the Visayans and will be donating 100% of all donations to Philippines relief and re-building efforts through VFV. Your contributions are fully tax deductible :)
