BENEFITING: AMERICAN VETERANS WITH BRAIN INJURIES INC
HOURS PLEDGED: 80
I am a student of the University of South Florida's Honors College, currently enrolled in a “special learning course” geared toward the uses of social media and outreach. Together my class is working to raise funds for international charities in need of aid.
One of the programs we are involved with is American Veterans with Brain Injuries, a recognized 501c3 charity in cooperation with the Bob Woodruff foundation. With the money we gain from our hard work and dedication we hope to provide veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries a better chance and reclaiming a normal life.
The AVBI program will use the money to provide identification cards to soldiers that have been wounded, and possibly impaired, to notify people such as medical officials and police officers of their special conditions and status. They will also fund subscriptions to the Lumosity software program at a reduced rate to help those suffering from TBI to retrain their brains and get them to back on track to a successful, healthy life.
So how can you help? Well, there are three options.
1. I am currently running a raffle in the non-digital world. It is a 50/50 raffle, so half of the earnings go to the winner, and rest go directly to AVBI. Tickets are $1, or 6 for $5. This is a bit tricky, as Crowdrise has a minimum donation of $10, but if you can think of other ways to donate I will be glad to work it out with you. If you do donate and let me know in the message that you wish to participate, I will personally hand write a ticket for you and drop it in the pot.
2. You are excessively selfless and want to try to mix things up a bit and put in a "blank raffle" - if drawn, all the money made this week will go straight to AVBI.
3. You can make a donation here or on AVBI's website, and the money will be kept separate from the raffle, meaning all of it (other than transaction fees) will go to the charity.
There is no deadline to give, but the raffle drawing will take place April 9th!
In case you need it, AVBI’s FEIN (Tax ID Number) is: 35-2355315.
