Sexual Assault Advocacy Fund (SAAF)
Organized by: Lisa Richey
THE STORY:
WE HAVE A PROBLEM. SEXUAL ASSAULT HAPPENS ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES ACROSS THE COUNTRY.
At UVA, sexual assault survivors come forward looking for justice. They need an unbiased, single point of contact that can help them navigate the criminal courts, the civil courts, and the University’s Title IX sexual misconduct process.
After a student bravely decides to come forward, SAAF is committed to giving that student a dedicated, professional legal advocate to help them navigate what course of action is right for them.
WE NEED YOUR HELP.
Ending sexual assault at UVA is a goal that requires all of us to get involved, whether you are a UVA alumnus, friend, or Charlottesville resident. We’ve found an experienced attorney, set up the mechanisms to ensure student survivors are referred to our attorney, hired a specialized service coordinator to set up a first appointment and be available for them whenever our attorney is in court or with other clients. We have tried to make it as easy as possible for all survivors at UVA to have a professional legal advocate.
But we need your help to pay for this service.

Thank you!
This fund was previously known as the UVrApe Alumni Victims Defense Fund.

DONATION: $100
In honor of our eight first year classmates in 1976-77 who were raped and severely beaten on Grounds by a custodial employee in the old dorms who was not caught until late in the spring semester. In memory of Deke Bowen, the Chief of Police, who stated that "we never had this problem before we had women here." In outrage and disgust at the author of the "Into the Bushes" letter, who advocated that male students commit more rapes so that the "U-Bags" would leave and the University would return to all male status. In honor of all of the victims of racism, sexism and ongoing fraternity violence whose truth was silenced by an uncaring University that fails to live up to its stated ideals to this day. 2 years ago
