The University of Wisconsin Eau Claire's Sigma Tau Delta Theta Zeta Chapter is raising money to support the Literacy Volunteers of Chippewa Valley. As an English Honors Society we recognize the importance of literacy in our everyday lives from the community to our families which is why we have chosen to donate the money we raise through Eau Claire Marathon runners Kevin Bergsbaken and Satchel Sabin to support the Literacy Volunteers of Chippewa Valley. The LVCV is a community-based literacy organization which gives adults the opportunity to take flexible literacy programs at no cost to them. Using these free programs every adult is given an opportunity to reach their education, employment and life goals. Approximately 98% of adults LVCV has served are living in poverty and through this opportunity LVCV is given the ability to help one individual, family, and community at a time which is their main goal as a literacy organization. With the support of your donation you will not only be helping these adults attain the necessary skills to be successful in their daily lives but you will also be supporting their families and the communities they live in.
Note: Eau Claire Events Inc has agreed to cut all checks to the Chippewa Valley Literacy Volunteers to ensure they receive each dollar we raise through this fundraiser. Also the Eau Claire Marathon takes place on Sunday May 1st so all donations will be due by this time when Satchel and I will make our way around the city, the UWEC's Blugold Mile, and ending our journey at Carson Park.
