BENEFITING: United Way for Southeastern Michigan
ORGANIZER: United Way for Southeastern Michigan
Since I can remember I have alway's enjoyed running and the feeling it gave me. In 2012 I started becoming a distance runner. I went from running 2.0 miles everyday in rain or shine, to running 5.0 miles and then successfully completing my first 10K.
When looking back, I remember how amazing I had felt physically, emotionally and realizing that I can do anything I put my mind to. Since that moment I made running a lifestyle where in 2013, I began running roughly around 50 miles weekly. Since 2013, I have successfully completed six half marathons and I am currently training for my seventh this upcoming October. Running is a passion of mine that not only reminds me of how amazing it is to be alive, but that with hard work and dedication, anyone can reach their goal.
This time around, I have decided to RUN UNITED and join the United Way for Southeastern Michigan team. On Sunday October 16th, 2016 my other team members and I will be running in support of making Detroit great again. I will run 13.1 miles in total, nine miles in the United States and four miles in Canada. My personal goal is to not only finish the race, but to do it with a stronger mind and body. Running means the world to me and by helping support my fundraising goal of $1,000.00 you are not only helping me, but you are making a difference in the lives of many others in greater Detroit. If you are wondering what United Way for Southeastern Michigan does, take a look below. I hope to see you all on race day!
We're igniting a social movement in Greater Detroit by empowering people to unite and solve complex problems that affect us all.
People can live their best lives when they are educated, financially stable and healthy. Attaining any one of these alone is good, but it is not enough. Only people that have all three are able to build — and sustain — a vibrant community.
