My name is Uzair and I am a rising junior at Baruch College pursuing a B.B.A in Finance and minor in Political Science. Being a first generation college student, I entered my first year at Baruch with little knowledge on how to navigate the range of on-campus and off-campus opportunities presented to me. Searching for and securing the right internship seemed like such a daunting and impossible task. However, by joining the America Needs You Fellows Program, I gained access to valuable resources such as career development workshops, a large support network, and one-on-one mentorship. These resources taught me various skills over the past year such as proper networking, preparing for interviews, and even creating long-term professional and personal goals. By attending the bi-weekly workshops, I felt more confident in myself and my ability to overcome personal and academic challenges. The mentoring relationship has been the highlight of my experience with ANY thus far. My mentor has been tremendously helpful, providing me with vital insight into the financial services industry and discussing with me where my interests and skills would be the best fit. Through the help of ANY, I have secured a summer internship in the Global Transaction Banking department at Société Générale. I am grateful for all the career support I have received and am looking forward to continuing my professional journey!
