Recently, I was asked to join Clinton Clamdiggers- a team riding the Angel Ride, which is a charity ride to benefit Camp Hole in the Wall Gang. I had ridden exactly ZERO miles on a bike in a couple of years, so my initial response was thanks but no thanks.
Well, a second plea came and I simply had no excuse as to why I couldn't join the team. You see, I couldn't say I was too busy with my 4 kids and all their spring activities-the team captain is also a mother to 4, works full time, and volunteers a riduculous amount as does her husband also a team member. So, lack of time was out the window. The only other reasonable excuse was that no way would I be in shape to complete the ride. After reminding myself who the ride was for: kids with cancer and other life threatening illnesses-
kids who battle fatigue and pain every waking hour of their life, kids who did not have a choice in their path to their sickness
I quickly realized that my lack of cycling fitness was an excuse short on merit. Minutes later, I was a team member of Clinton Clamdiggers on a journey to raise funds for Camp Hole in the Wall Gang.
I realize that many are often asked to donate to various causes, I hope you will find the Angel Ride worthy and that you will support me and the Clinton Clamdiggers efforts.
More About the Event:
AngelRide is one of New England’s premier charity bicycle rides; providing riders, volunteers, sponsors and donors with a two-day experience unlike any other. From the athletic challenge of the 135-mile ride, to the camaraderie of the riders and volunteers, to the direct impact on the lives of children with serious illnesses, it’s easy to see why AngelRide has become a Memorial Day weekend tradition for so many.
100% of rider and volunteer fundraising supports The Hole in the Wall Gang's Hospital Outreach Program: bringing the hopeful, playful spirit of The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp to children and families in the hospital setting.
By registering for AngelRide 2015, you will join a community of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. Whether you decide to ride, be a virtual rider, volunteer, make a donation (sponsor a participant) or become an event sponsor, your efforts make a real difference in the lives of children battling a serious illness who deserve a break.
