I always tell people that having had Leukemia was the worst... but also the best thing that ever happened to me. I was diagnosed in 2000 and I was 16 years old. It's pretty obvious why it was the worst - chemo (I still get a little naseous when I see bright blue gatorade, one of the colors of my chemo. I can finally drink orange gatorade, though), throwing up every single day, missing school, the mouth and throat sores, the track marks on my arms, the catherer, the spinal tap, etc etc etc etc I could go on. But it was also the best thing because of how it changed my outlook in life. I went through it and now I am healthy, appreciate every aspect of life, and even found my career. This would have NEVER happened if I had gotten diagnosed ten years ealier, for example. Back then survival rates were quite low - now, thanks to research, it 90+%. Those are some decent odds. Research also changed my chemo to (still crappy) a less aggressive , much faster, more effective treatment procedure. I want THAT and even better results for everyone else. HELP ME contribute so that research can find better treatment, better results, prevention... a cure!

Stand Up and join us in the 4th annual 2014 Crush Cancer event that benefits Stand Up To Cancer’s collaborative cancer research! This year, Crush Cancer will have two events that will be held in Miami, FL (Saturday, September 27) and Culver City, California (Saturday, October 18).
Crush Cancer is an endurance fundraising event and health expo where participants must raise $150 in order to participate. This circuit-training-style workout includes five different exercises. Participants are encouraged to perform as many reps of an exercise as possible for one minute. They then get one minute of rest and repeat the workout two additional times. The health expo is open throughout the day and features local shops, restaurants and businesses—as well as some of the biggest brands in the endurance workout space.
Crush Cancer has raised over $425,000 in three years and gyms from across the U.S (Denver, Boston and Las Vegas) and the world (Dubai, United Kingdom, Cayman Islands) have participated.
