BENEFITING: Stand Up To Cancer
ORGANIZER: Stand Up To Cancer
EVENT: Crush Cancer
EVENT DATE: Oct 18, 2014
My dad was diagnosed with Mutiple Myeloma in November of 2011...we were told that the prognosis was not good. It's funny how doctors do that...yet somewhow survivors of cancer seem to crush that. That's why they are called survivors...warriors that fight for their lives. This was not only a difficult time for my dad, but for my family and myself as well. My family lived in Northern California, while I lived here in Los Angeles. It was torture for me...that's when I dug myself more into Crossfit. It was my outlet...when I had a tough day I found my escape at Crossfit. And when a wod seemed impossible...I thought of my father and the constant daily battle he was enduring. Despite his bad days, he kept that warm smile that he is famous for and he never lost hope. I love you, dad. And thank you to Crossfit for all it has taught me about myself.

Stand Up and join us in the 4th annual 2014 Crush Cancer event that benefits Stand Up To Cancer’s collaborative cancer research! This year, Crush Cancer will have two events that will be held in Miami, FL (Saturday, September 27) and Culver City, California (Saturday, October 18).
Crush Cancer is an endurance fundraising event and health expo where participants must raise $150 in order to participate. This circuit-training-style workout includes five different exercises. Participants are encouraged to perform as many reps of an exercise as possible for one minute. They then get one minute of rest and repeat the workout two additional times. The health expo is open throughout the day and features local shops, restaurants and businesses—as well as some of the biggest brands in the endurance workout space.
Crush Cancer has raised over $425,000 in three years and gyms from across the U.S (Denver, Boston and Las Vegas) and the world (Dubai, United Kingdom, Cayman Islands) have participated.
