We envision vibrant and resilient local food systems where Vermonters of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds experience the benefits of gardening and learning together in community and become healthier through improved diets, exercise, and positive social interactions.
VCGN (formerly Friends of Burlington Gardens) works with community and school groups all over the state to start, maintain, and grow gardens and educational programming. We offer technical assistance, traning, resources, and networking opportunities to Vermont's garden leaders and hands-on garden education in Burlington.
TEACH people how to grow their own food and how to start and grow community and school gardens
TRAIN garden leaders
CONNECT local garden leaders to resources, training opportunities, and most importantly, to each other
ADVOCATE for community-based food systems
FUND garden projects
Last year we officially changed our name from Friends of Burlington Gardens to Vermont Community Garden Network, which has been the name of our statewide program since 2006. This evolution reflects our mission to support the hundreds of garden communities across the state. Meanwhile, our established local programs continue to provide fun, hands-on garden education in Burlington and offer models for the rest of the state and beyond.
