Did you know that over 1.4 million Americans suffer from Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)??? Compare that to the 231,461 Americans with leukemia and the 400,000 American living with Multiple Sclerosis. Many individuals with Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis, jointly known as IBD suffer in silence due to potential embarrassment and alienation.

I will RUN the 13.1-mile race at the Rock and Roll Half Marathon on November 17th in Las Vegas, to raise funds and awareness for research leading to improved treatment options and a cure for Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

Why am I running a Half Marathon? Of all of the reasons, I think the most important reason is my personal connection with Colitis and Crohn's Disease. My best friend who I will be running with has been working hard to become a healthier person and her primary motivator has been her personal struggle with Ulcerative Colitis.

No one likes to talk about uncomfortable bathroom issues, but the number of Americans affected by these debilitating diseases is growing. These numbers include my friend's brother, herself, and her great uncle, Rollie, who passed due to complications as a result of Crohn's Disease. 20% of people with Ulcerative Colitis are likely related to someone who is also affected by these diseases.

Over 1.3 million Americans have Crohn's and Colitis, commonly referred to as Inflammatory Bowel Disease or IBD; however, many more suffer in silence due to potential embarrassment and alienation. Crohn's disease and colitis may occur in people of all ages, but it is primarily a disease of adolescents and young adults, affecting mainly those between 15 and 35.

Together, we can make a difference! As a member of Team Challenge, I have a coach, a training program, and teammates to support me. I have committed to a training schedule with additional training with my team on the weekends, and I’ve promised to raise $4,000.00 in donations to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. I am motivated and I am committed!

Please help support me by visiting my webpage at A minimum of 82 cents per dollar raised by CCFA goes directly to research and patient support. No gift is too small and your contribution is tax deductible.
