BENEFITING: FAYETTE COUNTY ANIMAL RESCUE
Thank you to all of our wonderful donors that supported our efforts to purchase a new vehicle and trailer for Fayette County Animal Rescue. With your support, we were able to purchase a 4' X 6' trailer to hold all of our crates for adoption events, supplies, etc. and a 2012 Chevy Captiva to pull it to events and to transport animals for vet visits, rescues, etc. We are deeply appreciative of your donations and support. On behalf of all of us at FCAR and the animals - Thank You!
Fayette County Animal Rescue is a no kill animal shelter serving Fayette County, TN. We rescue dogs and cats from our county and participate in dozens of events a year to place them in new homes. FCAR currently utilizes two vehicles in support of our mission: a full size van which contains 12 set up crates to transport animals and a min van which is used to transport folded down crates and supplies for events.
Our minivan is a 1999 model and has been deteriorating over the years and has reached the point where the maintenance does not make sense to continue to repair it. We currently have a blown out window ($200) and the alternator that needs to be replaced ($$). In the past 6 months it has had multiple repairs every month and although we have fabulous volunteers that have helped defray the cost by doing the work themselves the continued investment just doesn't make any sense.
After much thought we would like to change our transportation model somewhat and move to a small, compact SUV along with a closed in trailer versus purchasing another minivan or large SUV. This will allow us to store all of the crates and supplies for events in the trailer which can be pulled by the compact vehicle and also allow us to use the SUV to carry small numbers of animals for rescue, vet and grooming runs. Right now our minivan is packed to the ceiling so there is no room to carry anything else so it is only used to transport to events. By separating the SUV from the trailer we can now use it to make smaller vehicle runs at a significant cost savings when compared to driving our full size van every time.
We would appreciate your support in raising money for this vehicle purchase. We have retired our last two vans after running them for 16 years each so clearly we are extremely cost conscious so we save as much money as possible for our rescues! We have just started the hunt for a vehicle and trailer so the exact amount of money we need is to be determined. Please trust me when I assure you we are beating all the doors to find the right vehicle at the very lowest price! Once we have a specific vehicle and trailer identified we will update the fundraising amount. Right now I think it is probably wishful thinking to keep the combined price at $20,000 but we have to start somewhere.
Thank you so much for your support!
