HELP US END FORCED AND CHILD LABOR IN GLOBAL SUPPLY CHAINS.
People all around the world work in farms and factories to provide the goods that well-known brands sell to western consumers. A shocking number of them work in dangerous, exploitative conditions. With your help Verité can continue to shine a light on the dark corners of the global economy and help these vulnerable workers prosper instead of suffer.
Verité just released a first-of-its-kind report on modern-day slavery: Nearly 1 in 3 migrant workers in Malaysia making electronics like cell phones and televisions are in conditions of forced labor. This means that as many as 50,000 workers are held in jobs against their will – in debt, defrauded by their employers, unable to return home while they produce goods for the global economy. Read the New York Times coverage of the report here.
Within the next year, Verité aims to keep 120,000 workers safe from risk of forced labor in electronics, apparel, construction and agriculture.
Your donations will help make that happen.
It costs us $50 to train workers in China on specific, concrete techniques that they can use to protect themselves.
For $500 we can present to companies new management systems that can help them identify and solve problems sustainably;
For $5000 we can conduct research and assessments on farms and in factories where workers are at high risk of forced labor and child labor. Any amount helps Verité to hold companies accountable and resolve some of the world’s worst human rights abuses – keeping vulnerable workers safe from harm and free from fear.
Your support is critical to enable us to continue to illuminate the shocking facts that lie hidden in the farms and factories where your products are made. When we find problems, we help companies solve them. With your donation today, we can scale our solutions to more companies and more countries.
