We are writing to you because we are delighted to be fundraising for the Hudson Valley Honor Flight. On September 19, 2015, we will be running in a Spartan Beast race in Killington, Vermont. This intense race covers 12-14 miles with 30-35 obstacles throughout the mountains of Killington. America’s soldiers are heroic, brave and strong and this is a way we chose to thank them for their sacrifices to our country!
This charity honors veterans located in Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Pike (PA), Bergen (NJ) & Fairfield (CT) counties. It is an all-volunteer organization that was created solely to pay tribute to America’s veterans for all of their sacrifices. The “Honor Flight” departs from Stewart Airport and Westchester airports and transports our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials, all done in one day. There is absolutely no cost to the veterans. All funds are raised through private donations. The first priority is given to World War II veterans but terminally ill veterans from other wars are also accepted. World War II was a major threat to the existence of our nation and without their sacrifices who knows where our country would be today. Sadly, over 550 World War II veterans are dying each day nationally and it is our time to express our appreciation to these brave men and women before time runs out. Now you ask, how can I help support this remarkable organization? Here are some sponsorship levels:
“Lieutenant” Sponsor approx.. $2 per mile = $26.00
“Captain” Sponsor approx. $4 per mile = $52.00
“Major” Sponsor approx. $10 per mile = $130.00
“General” Sponsor approx. $20 per mile = $260.00
“Veteran” Sponsor approx. $40 per mile = $520.00 – This will sponsor 1 veteran for their trip and expenses. You will also receive recognition at other Honor Flight events.
Again, thank you very much for your support! We will be thinking about each and every one of you while we battle through each grueling mile on our pursuit to the finish line. We would also like to thank every single veteran that has been willing to give their lives for our nation and our citizens each and every day.
Gratefully, Tammy Carr and Mike Snyder
